  1. Hi Dr. Jones,

I don’t have castor oil on hand, but I do have coconut and olive oil. Would either be safe to use in my cat’s ears until her appointment tomorrow?
She’s been shaking her head and losing fur around her ears, which look red and irritated. She was seen three weeks ago for an ear infection and was prescribed ear drops, which I’ve been using for the past four days. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be helping. I’ve also been gently cleaning her ears with cat-safe ear wipes.
I’m worried she’s uncomfortable and just want to make sure I’m doing what’s best for her until she’s seen.

  2. Hi, my cat has been scratching at her ears for a week and there is a little wax debris in her ears (not black, just brown) – not sure if it’s ear mites but I put 3 drops of organic castor oil in each ear 3 times so far, and her ears have suddenly gotten very hot, red and inflammed! Does this mean I should stop, is it a bad reaction or normal at first?
